What is a Mid Facelift?
A mid facelift, also known as a cheek lift, is mainly performed on patients who have lost youthful volume in their cheeks and are experiencing drooping skin and a loss of definition near their mouths. For patients who are concerned with sagging in the lower portion of their face, or along the neck, a full facelift may be more suitable. During your consultation, Dr. Foster will help decide which facelift procedure is right for you.
Candidates & Considerations
Mid facelift candidates should be in good overall health, and want to focus on improving the area of their face from their eyes to approximately their mouth. Since this is a partial facelift, and not a full, traditional facelift, candidates typically have limited noticeable aging. Most mid facelift candidates are in their 30s or 40s and are looking for a less invasive procedure to help rejuvenate their appearance.
The Procedure
Your procedure will begin with Dr. Foster making very small incisions that are expertly concealed in the hairline. Next, small surgical instruments will be used to access the underlying supportive tissues. These tissues will be tightened and gently pulled into a more youthful position, and any excess skin will be trimmed. In addition to improving definition and contouring, this modification will help reduce harsh lines around your mouth, and turn the corners of your mouth slightly upward. Finally, the skin will be smoothed to create a beautiful, even surface, and your incisions will be sutured closed.
Benefits & Risks
The mid facelift procedure offer a number of benefits:
- Less invasive than a full facelift
- Reduced recovery time
- Can easily be combined with other procedures
- No visible scars
- Minimal side effects
Like any surgical procedure, a mid facelift involves a some degree of risk, including infection, bleeding and blood clots, an allergic reaction to your anesthetia, and unfavorable results. The already low incidence of complications can be even further reduced when you choose a highly trained and experienced surgeon like Dr. Foster.
Recovery & Aftercare
After a mid facelift procedure, you may experience minor swelling and pain, which can be controlled with prescription medication and special contouring bandages. Since mid facelift incisions are very small, patients can enjoy minimal scarring and improved recovery times. Patients can often return to work and other activities within a week of their procedure.
